Installing Outside Stem
Sorry to bother you, but I have a big problem. I am building a Ranger, my 3rd canoe. My youngest son wanted to build it but computer games got the best of him, so I am finishing it. I glued the outer stem yesterday. I took out the screws about 8 hrs later. When I went back in to the garage, the lowe...

Re: Rob Roy seat question
I just use a foam cushion.
You want to be as low as possible for utmost stability.

Re: Another Rob Roy question - a keel?
Hello Bulkhead, I built a Rob Roy several years ago and it does not have a keel. Looking back on my paddling experiences with no keel, I think it would handle better with a keel. This goes against my original thoughts. I use it mainly to go from one end of a 1.5 km lake and back. When the wind picks...

Why not park your car outside?
Humidity problem solved and studies show
that vehicles will not rust as fast when
parked outside in the winter.

Table Saws
Hello there,
I am in the process of buying a new table saw and
was wondering what a good make/model would be.
I plan to build at least one more canoe.
Thanks
Pete

Fairing Board
Hi Guys,
Long time no-'e'
The most recent Wooden Boat magazine has an article about building a fairing board.
The author recommends using old sail battens for the flexible board part.
I don't have any old sail battens.
Any other suggestions for the flexible board part.
tks

Rob Roy Thwart
Glen, It's me again. I should have asked what you think the minimum thickness of the thwart could be. I am trying to keep weight down and basically the thwart would just tie the canoe together and give me something to lean the back of the seat against. I would guess 1"x 1.5" for cherry? Pe...

Rob Roy Thwart
Thanks Glen Once again I appreciate you help. I have been meaning to purchase Mac's book, so I must find a copy. I'm sure it has other good tips on small craft. I have really enjoyed building the Rob Roy. It doesn't seem as complicated. It is my second attempt at a canoe, so that has to help of cour...

Rob Roy Thwart
Hi guys,
My question is where should I place the thwart on my Rob Roy.
I took the figures for the molds out of CanoeCraft, but I don't know where the thwart should be placed. I plan to mortise it in with the inwale.
Thanks
Pete

Hi Matt,
I didn't think it was possible, but I think your shop is smaller than mine.
Good luck. I didn't notice, what model are you building?

epoxy runs
Hi Adam, On Saturday I fired up the heaters and put a second coat on the inside of the hull. Now I am using 3/4 inch replacement blades for cutters to scrape off the runs. I can't think of the name of the knife, but often they are disposable and you just break off the tip and have a fresh new blade....

I finished my Bob's Special last year.
I am currently 2/3 done my Rob Roy. I guess that would be a 'Rob R'
I think a Prospector will have to be built some day.
No make that a Ranger.
