Ultra Light (solo) Canoe

Has any one made one of these, http://www.geodesicairoliteboats.com/ ? Anyone make a Kevlar Canoe, from the book, "Building Your Kevlar Canoe" by James Morgan. I've narrowed down my next (solo) canoe to the "Osprey" from www.greenval.com . I've bought the Osprey plans from Martin...

Hackberry? Where is it a domestic wood? Color? Does it grow near water? Hard / soft wood? If sealed with epoxy it should be fine. To bend ash (1/4" strips) you will need to steam it. I took a 4" diameter PVC pipe, capped it, put in my half dozen strips, added boiling water, waited about 20...

I was thinking of a lighter wood this time, such as Cedar. Not sure if I want a laminate one. Any thoughts on what is the strongest and ...

Enterprise Kayak

I was looking at Ted Moores & Greg Rossel's new book "Kayaks You Can Build" on the weekend. Looks like another must have. The book features three stich & glue plywood kayaks. The one kayak is the "Coho" from Pygmy ( http://www.pygmyboats.com/ ). The other kayak that I lik...

Canoe Choice

Take a look at www.greenval.com . They have a number of larger canoes. They are out of Waterloo and Martin Step is great with on-line help.

Yoke

Looks quite comfortable.
How is it for bouncing around on a portage. Tippy?
Looks like it is alot lighter than my (ash) yoke.
What kind of solo canoe is it?

All the best,

New Builders Forum

I see this is a new "Builders Forum" since the last time I was on.
How do we access the information from the old forum?
I understand that there is going to be a "Bear Mountain Boat", boat building get together this Aug (15) in Peterborough?
