Hi, I too, would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I havn't done a thing on the canoe since the cold weather set in. So much to do in the spring. I got a couple books for Christmas, Ted Moores Kayak building, another kayak building book and small craft building book. I love the reading and who...

Thanks Greg, Sorry for not getting back sooner.
I took on a new occupation that's taking a lot of my time and just getting back here is a lucky and desired moment for sure.
I'll use your technique tomorrow. Again, Thanks so much.
Oh Bye the way....everyone ready for Christmas?*LOL*
Cheers, Robbie.

I tried to make the outer stem on mine after the fact. I made a glue up station from the pattern. That was a mistake. It twisted on glue up and the pattern was somewhat off and the stem would not sit correct no matter what amount of shaping I was going to do. The bend was just too far off. So, take ...

From what I understand is you are to install the keel after the glass has been laid and the final 2-3 coats of epoxy on top of that if possible.

Hi, I am also assuming you mean a wandering cut when resawing. This usualy is an indication of an improperly tensioned blade. When resawing use a 1/2" blade. Do not use this blade for any other use, just resawing. There are tension springs(heavy duty) which are available were you buy your blade...

Update: I made a cardboard pattern of the bow curve line after filing to the inside stem. I transfered that to a piece of 1 1/16" wide board and cut the curve on the board. I now have a jig to press the 1/8" thick strips into while gluing 3 at a time (6 total). Then I glued those 2 pieces ...

It does suggest on one of my books that you trim the sheer line after your finished glassing with a jig saw. I havn't decoded when I'm going to do mine but I'm almost at the glasing stage so I better make a decesion soon enough.

I agree. Real nice. I think it adds character and something different. I'll keep you posted on my doings. However, another possible problem may have come up. I bought my epoxy and hardener at the west sytems marine outlet in Kingston the other day. I bought the slow hardener(206) I see that the kit ...

Thanks for the replies. I get it. I'm glad I posted this question. I'm on to that step now. As for a small flaw in the cedar strip at the cheek of the bow that I questioned a few days ago I think I have an idea for that too. Someone posted a piece of intarsia (blue heron) on their project. I may do ...

Sorry about the unclear post. The strips are already glued and there is an inside stem only. The orginal starter of this project did not make an outer stem and I think it's kinda late for that process.(Making them at the same time would have been the best idea). So my thought here is to sand, file, ...
