Re: resolute kayak cockpit size
I used to have a bunch of links to websites about rudders and skegs but I no longer have those links. I have installed a home-made skeg in a Resolute and a purchased rudder on another Resolute. It is very difficult to get the rudder perfectly plumb. Unfortunately I don't have detailed photos of eith...

Ouch ! Side blows can be fatal. I think your repair schedule is a good one.

Re: Flooring Layout ???
Do a search on Amazon for "David Hazen". He has a book on strip building where he starts by making the "football". It might not be very useful though as there really aren't many instructions concerning that part of the build.

Re: Flooring Layout ???

Re: Flooring Layout ???
If I correctly understand, it is easy to achieve what you want. Strip the sides up until the stems are almost covered. Then you place one strip on either side of the hull bottom centerline, bevelled to fit well together and glued to the inner stems. Then you fill in by adding strips parallel to the ...

Re: Hull weight of #20
Epifanes high gloss is my favourite. I thin it about 10% so it applies without causing drag on the brush but not so thin it runs. I use the Epifanes brushing thinner. I apply it with a 3" foam brush and I use Ted's brushing technique.

If you work on the canoe full time, stripping the hull can take from 2 to 6 days only.

Re: bilge transition problems
Use a hot-air gun to heat a portion of the strip where it needs torsion. When the strip is warm enough you should be able to twist it. Twist it a bit more than needed and keep the torsion pressure on it as it cools. You can pre-shape the strips this way so they are easier to install.
