Training Project

Post by Glen Smith »

I am posting this message on behalf of Dominique Haumont located in Cotonou Benin, Africa. Dominique requested my aid in designing a 23' double kayak (using Kayak Foundry) as a project to train his four apprentices in working with wood, epoxy and finishes. What better way than to build a boat!
This kayak is built out of teak cutoffs from the wood-working shop to keep the cost at a minimum but it must be quite heavy. None the less, everybody in the community seems to enjoy the kayak and the apprentices are now thinking about training more people in the art of boat building.

If you have any questions or comments for Dominique, please post them here and I will forward them to him.

Enjoy the pics.
