I have built my seats in a trapezoid shape, but to add a different look I've added some shape. Please look at the attached pictures. http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n4/m ... ay2001.jpg
I'm going to cane the seats and I'm going to drill 1/4" holes 3/8' back from the inside of the frame and 3/4" apart. Should I follow the contours of the frame or in a straight line? Thanks again for the input.

Caning question
I built mine as trapezoids, and followed the edge for caning. However, I used an unusual caning pattern designed for that particular trapezoidal shape, which is a regular pentagon, missing one corner. The holes are not evenly spaced for my pattern, but are much closer together than 3/4", which sounds odd to me ofr cane. Are you planning on cane, or something more like rawhide with a wider weave?
