Removing canoe from forms (stations)

Post by Selwyn »

I haven't started to strip the canoe yet but was just wondering. If the canoe has a tumblehome design how do you pull it of the forms.

Depending on the tumblehome, there may be enough give to just ease it off in the conventional way. If not, remove the center stations from the strong back and twist out after you have flipped the canoe.

Ditto to what Greg said; however, if the forms seem stuck, you may need to resort to the old nursery rhyme, " Nick, nack, Patty wack, give the forms a wack" towards the center and they will break free. I use a rubber mallet and it works great! It sounds bad, but the forms break free cleanly, even with the hot glue I use to keep the strips from spreading off the forms.
