Varnishing-Cold Weather

Post by nicktheww2fanatic »

Hi there everybody, first post.

I live in MI, and its rather chilly here right now (-5 or so).
I have been building my Redbird for just over 2 years, and am just about finished, I am mounting the seat frames and yoke tonight, then just to finish up the varnishing. I varnished the outside of the hull with 3 coats so far, but had to stop due to the temperature, just can't get the stuff to go on well. What temperature do I need to finish up the varnish? I am using this varnish: http://newfound.com/varnish.htm

Most varnishes will become too thick for proper application and drying time below about 65F. My general rule of thumb is: if you are not comfortable in a t-shirt, don't apply varnish.
