16' Prospector completed

Post by michael giswold »

Finally finished my canoe! Launched it on Easter Sunday. I'll try and attach the link for photos as per Glen's instructions.
I was a little hesitant to post the photos after seeing all the beautiful and complex patterns and designs already submitted. She's a "plain jane" boat but I certainly felt a sense of accomplishment since I started from rough lumber and did everything from scratch - including milling all the lumber and making/caning the seats (another first for me).
I certainly made good use of all the questions and solutions from other members.
Happy paddling!

You did a great job! I don't think any cedar strip canoe can ever be considered "plain".

She looks great! I'm sure you will enjoy paddling in it for years to come.

Nice canoe. Like the way you alternated the stripes.
My canoes are less artistic than your first canoe... I can not help but to experiment on each new canoe or kayak. And none of them turn out the way I had envisioned.

You should get years of enjoyment from it and if you are ever in the central Ohio area, maybe we could get together on the water... or in the shop.
