Keel Dimensions

Post by slucke »

I've built a couple of cedar strip canoes over the last 10 years. The last one was a Prospector 16 for a friend a few years ago. These days she finds she is solo paddling more and has decided she would like to add a keel to help with directional control. What are the cross-cut dimensions of a keel that are typical for this type of canoe at mid-canoe? Haven't had any luck searching Thanks!

Keel dimensions are mentionned in the revised edition of Canoecraft on page 82.

I think my next canoe will have a shoe keel. Anyone have any experience with them?
