Round over for Inwales

Post by wb9tpg »

I've got the scuppers cut and I wanted to do the roundovers for:

1. The scuppers
2. The inside parts of the inwales (avoiding the areas for the decks and thwart)

Looking for recommendations for the size of the roundover bit to usefor each. My inwales are 3/4 x 3/4 for my Ranger 15.

Thanks

Check out Michne's boat building page. Scroll down to the bottom and you will see the round-over bit (from MLCS) that Michne used (1/8 round over, brass pilot).

I am 20 strips into my Ranger 15....... so far, pleased with the planking. Good luck on the final work on yours.

I'll let you in on a secret I found doing my ranger, the magic dimension for cutting the scuppers is 2 61/64", it took me a long time to figure it out but it fits the thwart and seats mounts perfectly. I have a schetchup file if you want it with the layout.
