splicing planks

Post by carles »

Hey Everyone, I am working on bottom of my canoe, I have discovered that some of my planks are to short to maintain the pattern to match first side planked. How do you splice them and will this weaken the bottom and is it a good idea to do this? Especially the bottom! Thanks Carl S.

Just butt them together as you strip the hull. as long as you stagger the jonts there will be no effect on the strength of the finished canoe.
