Seagrass seats

Post by DanSadler »

I'm just finishing up a Redbird and had really struggled finding the "right" seats. I made ash frames and did a seagrass weave, I'm pleased with the end result. Thought others would like to see

I like the look of those. Great idea that I have not seen before.

I bet they would leave a nice print on your butt too. :wink

Looks very nice but is it waterproof? I'd worry that if it got wet on a trip, it might stay wet for a while.

I think the weaving method would be similar to the "rush" method: http://www.aces.uiuc.edu/vista/html_pub ... weave.html

I got a pamphlet from the seagrass supplier that had some good instructions and illustrations. Was fairly simple. I did weave one seat completely just to cut it all off and start over. I guess it's that way with most new processes, by the time I'm done I've learned a few tricks and want to start over. Material is pretty inexpensive, so it's just time.
