NOMAD 17 Planking above the sheer line

Post by AMILES »

I am into planking above the the sheer line and making the NOMAD 17, trying to figure out the planking lenghts and how and how far back to run the planks :thinking, the book really does not go into detail on this and looking for help on this problem I have to conclude this part of my boat? :tu

Assuming you are talking about the ends of the canoe that will require progressively shorter strips to reach the very ends near the decks, I would add strips that run beyond the sheer marks on each form and then add some more just to be sure. this will mean that the first few strips will run from stem to almost the middle of the canoe and then get shorter from there.

You can always run a long thin strip as a batten to see if your strips are going long enough.
