I'm building the Freedom 17 and was wondering if anyone knows where the design waterline is? I'd like to put an accent around there to be able to check trim visually. Right now I'm planning on putting the line at the 16"WL, no idea if that's correct or not just guessing.
Thanks.

Re: Design Waterline
I place a little triangle of Aspen, at about 3" above the keel on my solos, near the stems.
I'd think 3 or 4" would make a good visual reference on a tandem.
Good idea !

Re: Design Waterline
Displacement for the Freedom 17 is listed at 420 lbs at a draft of 4.25". WL16 from the table of offsets is 4.25" above the bottom (1-08-0+ - 16 + 0.25)
Re: Design Waterline
By that, 5" would be about right. That's with a 420# load.
Maybe stack a couple marks on each end, say a strip apart.
Just a thought.
Good luck !

Thanks, I was planning on putting the accent at the 16" WL but maybe I'll put it a little higher so it's always visible.

Sorry, we were talking about measuring from different points.
But we knew what each other was talking about.
