Ted's Story ?

Post by Jim Dodd »

With the newest edition of Canoe Craft about to hit the stands.
I submitted a story on how, I got started building canoes. Now I'm curious how Ted got started building cedar strip canoes ?

Maybe it will be in the book, I don't know?

I, and I'm sure the rest of us sawdust makers would like to know !

I was having dinner with my wife just this evening and wondering when the new Canoecraft would be available. Good question. I'd guess Ted has been building so long that nobody (including Ted) knows how he got started. Hope to see the new edition soon!

Are you going to Canoecopia this year (next weekend?)?

Hi Randy

I thought about Canoecopia, It's a long haul, A big wad of people, and no strippers.
Midwest Mountaineering's Spring event, in St Paul is more to my liking. Plus I may be bringing some wood home.

Last year I went to Spooner Wsc for the Canoe museums Spring opening. It was fun, but I didn't know anybody.

Teds story would be COOL !

There are always a few strippers and builders working (in real-time) on wooden boats at Canoecopia.

Oh there's always a few different guys there selling their wares as well as a few guys making woodchips.

WHCA and the Wisconsin Canoe Museum guys will be there with a booth.

Getting back to Ted's story.
In my first copy of Canoecraft, Ted hadn't supplied his story.
On my 2000 copy right, I NOW see Ted added his Story. The reason I missed it on my second copy, was I turned right to the "Plan" section first.
I feel foolish for having missed it ! But Happy I found it !
