Sanding out epoxy patches

Post by Pit Boss Mike »

There are a few spots I've applied some epoxy to on the hull, and I was wondering if those spots have to be completely sanded out before applying the fibreglass? I'm a little worried about the color looking off where those spots were.

Thanks for any help....Mike

If you don't sand them out they will show as a blotch. Also try using a scraper to remove the excess and sanding after.

If you have small areas to fill before glassing what we do in class is masking tape the area as close to the gap as possible, fill it, remove the tape, smooth with a clean white cloth dampened with Lacquer thinner and glass immediately after. That way any bleedout will not show.
