Anyone need 20' long white ash boards for gunwales?

Post by cedarphile »

I have access to an exceptional, large-diameter, straight 20' white ash sawbolt that a logger who loves canoes cut for me. It's now at a sawmill in northern Wisconsin near Spooner. We'll soon be cutting the log into 5/4 x 6" boards for gunwales for canoe builders. If anyone has a serious interest in obtaining one or more of the boards, please reply. canoecraft@yahoo.com. The boards will all be light-colored sapwood and sawn to 1-1/4" x 6" x 20' and will be cut on a bandsaw rig for a reasonably smooth finish. Should be able to get four gunwales and a keel per 6" board. Very reasonably priced for serious builders.
