Dave, if you find any in the London area.
Please let me know.
I'm in the same boat, literally.
I was going to look at some of the larger craft stores.
Plastic cane, right?

Cane

When I lived in Montreal, there was nobody listed as a cane supplier. I walked into a store where they sold rattan furniture and they just happened to also do caned chair repairs. They were happy to sell me the materials I needed.

Dave,
I waivered back and forth on natural -vs- plastic for a while.
I figure that natural will add more value to the finished product, so that's what nailed it for me.
Being that I won't need the stuff right away, I'm going to go with e-commerce and get it from H. H. Perkins, they seem to be the most popular source of choice amoung boat builders.

Dave check with Martin Step (Green Valley), I think he recommends plastic, also, if I remmember correctly you can hardly tell that it is plastic.
Plastic more durable?
Colour change?

I made my seats of plastic cane from HHPerkins, as described in Gilpatrick`s book, superb look and feel. Used birch wood.
Have heard that natural cane will stretch when wet and not go back to original form. You will get a saging look on the seat??

I used plastic from HHPerkins as well, also based on Gilpatrick book. The plastic is very durable, and those who use plastic complain about natural cane stretching when wet. People who use natural cane claim it doesn't stretch that much. The very few complaints I have ever heard about plastic cane all used cane from some other source than HHPerkins.
