Does anyone know who might make/sell paddle blanks in Canada?

Thanks!

Gilpatrick's book "How To Build A Cedar Strip Canoe" has plans for making paddles.

Paddle Blank

Post by Glen Smith »

Hi Erik,

If you have "Canoecraft" revised edition, look on page 191 at the small photo on the left. That is a "paddle blank". They are sold already cut to rough shape and you just have to use plane, spokeshave and sandpaper to round the shaft, bevel the blade and shape the knob.

Rod is looking for a Canadian supplier but there don't seem to be any advertised. Or at least no-one has come up with one yet.

That's right Glen! However I did pick up David Gidmark's book and there are some suppliers listed in the back.

Thanks!

Hi Rod,

If you can provide links to some of those suppliers, we will know the answer the next time the question comes up.

I have contacted Doug Ingram at Red River Canoe and paddle.

I bought a double paddle from him a while back and thought I'd give him a call. He said he can supply blanks.

I was in Algonquin a few weeks ago and noticed lots of paddle blanks for sale at one of thes outfitters, but I'm not sure which one.
