Orust 2005 TRIP REPORT

Post by Erik, Belgium »

hi all,

Just to let you know that I --finally-- managed to put a number of pictures online of the Orust 2005 kayak meeting in Sweden.

I was a very pleasant weekend with a lot of woodstrip, S&G and skinboats turned up. The majarity where glass kayaks however.
Nigel Foster has been showing us pictures of his recent trip to NE Canada, Labrador Sea. He has been teaching on the water too.
Björn Thomasson has explained everything there is about Greenland paddles; plus an on-the-water practicing session.
We met several regular forum contributors like Richard Kohlström, Magnus Jonsson, Martin Nissen, ...
Thomas Ahlberg of Orust Kajak has organised a wonderful meeting, he left enough room for the numerous paddlers, so that the sessions weren't too crowded.
Orust has a beautiful kayaking environment, located on the West coast of Sweden, just north of Gothenburg.
I surely will turn up again next year.

Here are some more pictures form Orust Kajak themselves.

Cool looking place. Everyone's paddles seemed to have elongated blades. Is that the style there or is it a function of the type of kayaking?

The geography of the land looked interesting too. It looked to be somewhat volcanic in formation.
