Canoe ballet

Post by rodent »

I am new to canoeing, heck I don't even have a canoe. But I do have dreams and goals. Anyway, I read about Bill Mason and what he calls 'canoe ballet', but I did not understand what he meant...until I came across this YouTube video.

I had no idea that such maneuvers could be performed in a canoe. As Bill Mason is not around to ask, I can only imagine that this is similar to what he was refering to. Thought some of you might like to see it.

Yes, that is canoe ballet. You can obtain a book or dvd on Canadian style paddling through Becky Mason, Bill's daughter at this link: http://www.redcanoes.ca/becky/canoe/index.html

I recently posted the same question and picked up the Becky Mason DVD.
It's very informative on the different type strokes used in the YouTube video.
Lots of nice scenery as well.. Chatted with Becky, after the order, as well.
