Paddles of Walter Caribou

Post by Bryan Hansel »

I took these pictures this last fall at Grand Portage NP. They were carved by Walter Caribou, who was a long time caretaker at the fort. I like them alot. The colors are nice.

In this one, you may be able to see the jagged edges on the blade near the throat of the paddle. It is a carved stair step type pattern. Very cool. Paddle 1 right. Paddle 2 left.

Paddle 6 left. Paddle 5 right.

The small paddle is a cribbage board.
