solo canoe for fishing, large paddler

Post by nicktheww2fanatic »

Hey there, I am thinking about building a second canoe, I will using it for solo only, as I already have built a redbird. I am a large person, 6'1" and 270 lbs, so it needs to be fairly large. I also need it to be quite stable, as I want to use it for fishing primarily. Any suggestions?

well I am 6'2 but a tad bit lighter at 220. I have two Rangers they are great to paddle solo and a nice stable boat for fishing .Have fun choosing and have fun building.

did you rearrange the seating so that you sit in the middle?

No I built them tandem but the bow seat is not very far forward. There is no reason you couldn't build one with a single seat , you would have to add another thwart.

Bob's Special is great to paddle solo... the low ends could make paddling in winds easier.
