rob roy for fishing

Post by fishincanoe »

I'm 6' 3" and 170lbs. I am thinking about building the rob roy for bass fishing on small lakes and rivers. Would like to hear from other rob roy owners or users if they think the craft is stable enough for fishing. I have fished with a double paddle in a 10' big box store boat but found that uncomfortable to use. It was stable enough for fishing though. I do like the lines of the rob roy but am concerened about it being a bit tender for fishing.

I've built a few Wee Lassie type canoes, and as long as your sitting low to the bottom, you'll be fine.
The design appears to have plenty of hull rocker, so it should maneuver quite well.
With your dimensions it should work.

A small single blade or a hand paddle should be ideal.

Keep your paddle wet and your seat dry!
