Safety with bungees

Post by Arctic »

Just a note about working with bungees. I have a friend who is an aircraft mechanic. He was storing to parts and decided to bungee them in order to secure them on something. When he was working with the stuff one of the bungees let go and squared him in the eye. He was hurt bad and lost the sight of that eye- that was a while ago- and he still does not have site in the eye.
Lots of us builders use bungees and work close to them while they are under tension- all I can say is be careful- secure them well and where safety glasses.

Thanks for posting this, Mark. Not as tragic an accident, but another reminder of how dangerous bugees can be, I had one get away from me while securing some lumber on top of my Cherokee. It came over the top of the car so violently that it shattered the window of the jeep right next to where I was standing. Scared the bejeezes outof me, and I've been much more careful since then.
A hui ho,
Kent
