Camp Chair Plans

Post by Doug »

Greetings,

I came across this in my travels,
http://home.earthlink.net/~scouters/cha ... hor1009286

I built one of these a few years ago and is a must (for me) on a trip.
A good winter project?
It nests nicely for carrying.
Can be light and strong, depending on what kind of wood you use. Bass wood?

This, a good book and a view are some of my favorite things.
All this in one ....and life is good.

Hey Doug;

I've seen those chairs and thought they'd be great for camping, but I'm afraid I'd crush it(I'm 220 lbs) unless it was built from some heavy hardwood. Did you really use basswood? What does yours weigh?

Ken;

I'm 200lbs and 6'2", not a problem. At all.
But the one I have is even lighter in weight.
Not sure of chair weight.
Mine is made of standard 1x2" spruce.
You could use oak.
It does make for good fire wood, if it fails.
I get about 2-3 years out of it.
