Indiana Ice Diving

Post by mtpocket »

This is way off topic but it was in the water, and I did not see even one canoe or kayak. Sixteen of us Indiana fools went under the ice yesterday and nine of us again today. The lesser number today was because some did not appreciate what they found yesterday. The ice was 5 inches thick with 2 inches of snow cover. The water temperature was a balmy 34F. Three dives each per day lasting approximately 25 minutes and hot coffee waiting for those who didn't have a bladder problem while inside a dry suit(what a mess). We seen several large catfish, a few largemouth bass and hundreds of bluegill. No one got hypothermia so it was a success. The Argon in my Whites drysuit made it very much more comfortable. I can't wait to go again.

They found out that their seven mil wet suits weren't suitable for water this cold, even when they tried pouring warm water inside before the dive. Others found out that their old neoprene drysuits leaked and they froze their gonads off. Sissys

I think they call it shrinkage up in Canada.

Shrinkage huh, maybe that's why their canoes don't tip.
