Foam Brushes

Post by ealger »

All Foam brushes are not created equal.

I've been buying foam brushes from Wal-Mart for a long time. I noticed that the wooden handles on the last batch I bought were larger than they had been. It turns out that in my part of the USA there are 2 brands of foam brushes: one labeled "JEN MFG USA" and the other simply "China". (Actually there is a 3rd type with plastic handles. These are useless!).

The foam on the JEN brushes is quite dense while the China brush is softer.

My experience is that the JEN brush will pull and level varnish quite nicely while the softer "China" brush tends to skip and chatter. Ace hardware still carries the JEN brush while Wal-Mart has gone to China. :wink

Ed,

I have had the same experience with foam brushes. I look for the "good" ones at Ace.
