Centering Formers

Post by Friesen 5 »

I glued small sticks to the centerlines of each former. I then used these to ensure that the formers were centered. A taught line next to the small sticks allowed me to check for accuracy and readjust as needed. The sticks were broken away when the planking neared the top (bottom).

I do that with my stem forms.
I just staple a scrap strip, and when I get to that point, just pull the staples.
I must confess, I learned that trick from the Minn. Canoe Assc.
