cutting scuppers in in-wales my way

Post by alick burt »

Hi Folks
Thought I'd share this simple method of cutting scuppers in my inwales.
I make them in pairs and first mark out where they are to be cut allowing space for seats and yolk.
Then I drill 20mm holes at the end of each using my pillar drill and turning the pieces over to drill from the other side once the point has come through.Image
These holes are then cut with a jigsaw to form slots and the edge is cleaned up with a router. You may ask why I don't just rout them and leave out the other two steps and the answer is that I find it avoids having to get the router in perfect position for each cut or make a jig.once all the slots have been cut to this stage I rout the edge with a small round over bit before cutting the inwales apart tapering and cleaning them up.Image
Cheers
Alick
