fitting inwalls

Post by reinbilt »

Following Canoecraft instructions for measuring and fitting inwalls has not worked well for me. The inwalls on my last canoe and rowboat have come up an 1/8 inch short. I tried something different this week on my Bob Special. I clamped my inwall material on the outside allowing excess to entend past the stems. This made it real easy to see where the inwall and inner stem meet. I made my marks, picked up the angles, unclamped the inwall and made the cuts. I then tapered the ends 30 inches back and clamped it back on as an inwall. A perfect fit on both sides of the canoe!
