Hello again! I finally got my funding in order to build my Freedom 15. Will 16' strips be long enough?
Thanks,
Shea

I haven't built a Freedom 15 so I don't know exactly how many strips you will need. You can calculate the number fairly easily if you have the molds or the plans. Measure the distance on the largest mold from one sheer down to the keel and back up to the opposite sheer. Let's say this distance is 55". If you are using strips that are 3/4" wide and they are B & C then they only have a face width of 5/8". So, we divide 55 by 5 then multiply by 8 and we see that this boat would require 88 strips. If you are using only full length strips they won't all have to be 16 feet long. Once you get up past the turn of the bilge the strips shorten rapidly so you can use shorter strips or cut some of your full length strips to shorter lengths.
