fibreglass problem

Post by arnie »

hi all, i'm new here and think i've got a big problem. i have built this beatiful cedar canoe over 6 weeks. all was going well till the glass part. i layed the fabric and mixed and brushed and squeged like the good book said to. i really thouhgt it went on well, smooth and flat. due to my job and things i was only able to do the first coat. when i returned to it, i found white spots like a blemish, mostly on the front and back ends. i'm trying to attach a pic so you can all see and hopfully help with a soliution this. if there is one. thanks for the help. pleeeease./Users/karen/Pictures/Kodak Pictures/05-28-2009/000_0474.JPG

I haven't seen your canoe but have a few questions.

What epoxy did you use ?

How long did you mix your resin ? I would time my mixing at about 2 min.and make sure I incorporated everything, from the sides and bottom.

did you do this inside ? Was it exposed to a lot of direct sunlite ?

A picture is worth a thousand words.

As far as a solution, usually removal and a patch.

Sorry ! I know this isn't a lot of help !

Good luck !

Jim
