Chestnut Prospector finished (finally)launch pics (updated)

Post by Gomer »

After 4 months and countless hours my new baby has finally come to life. She weighs in @ 63 pounds just like the book says. :wink I hope she gives me as much pleasure on the water as she did in the shop.

Beautiful!

Congrats! What a beautiful job you've done! How did you do the gold stars? Is it metal inlay?

Thank you, Dawne. Glad you like her. I did the stars the same way as the eagle emblem. I hand painted them using water based stain. I printed out a row of 6 stars on a sheet of paper, then put carbon paper behind it and traced the star onto the hull, then filled it in w/ the stain. BTW, I have followed your build and I am just amazed by your zest and perfectionism. You, are an amazing woman. I MADE my wife look at your documented build. She is not interested. Oh well, her loss. Your vessel is absolutely gorgeous!

Beautiful Canoe

Post by AsaBlanchard »

Gomer,
Very nice boat. Everytime I see a beautiful new canoe posted on the blog it makes me want to go out in the shop and rub some more bad places out of mine.

Dawne, I too followed your build and sent it to one of my female friends who paddles plastic kayaks hoping she might get the fever. You are a better carpenter than me.
