Easy question: marking inside stems
I seem to have a mental block; i am ready to mark the lines on the inside stems, in preparation to plane the rolling bevel. Canoecraft says that the leading edge should be 1/8". So my question is, when you add the 1/4" strips on either side, you will end up with 5/8" total thickness at the outermost edge. But when you add the 3/4" outer stem over that, i seem to have a 1/8" difference?? Am i missing something?

You aren't missing anything. The extra 1/8" is removed when you fair the outer stem into the hull lines. This is actually only 1/16" on each side. Call it spare wood for the fudge factor.
