Show us your decks

Post by Jim Dodd »

Seems quiet right now.
I've seen some real fancy decks over the years, and have enjoyed every one !
If anyone out there is interested in posting a pic of theirs, please do !
Mine are just plain Jane ash.

Thanks in advance !

Jim

It's my first one and not even installed yet, but I think you get the idea and concept.

This is the underside view, epoxied to save the bother of trying to do it insitu ( I am installing in the next couple of days). The extra pieces are to reinforce the deck and save me installing handholds for carrying around.

Image

This is the top view, the epoxy on the previous pic sure makes a difference to make the colour contrast pop, on this pic not so much.

Image

The curves are done to mimic the fore and aft hull shape, materials are the same as the canoe, cherry trim, cedar and basswood.

I posted my deck before it got installed and finished, now that it's done, I think it looks some what different.

Anyway, this is a pic of the finished product, not perfect, but I am pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Image

And this shot sights down the boat, so you get an idea of what I was trying to achieve, a symmetry with the boat strip pattern.
