I'm thinking I'll buy and finish a paddle this winter before it's warm enough to work in my unheated garage.
Can someone offer advice on length? Some sites quote different lengths whether you are in the bow or stern, measuring while sitting or standing, shaft length vs total length, etc. If it helps, I'm thinking of a Grey Owl Sagamore.
Thanks,
Bob
P.S. That's a traditional straight-shaft, beaver-tail paddle.

Re: Paddle length
It seems that I can now answer my own question. The Grey Owl site has a very good page on paddle sizing--I just didn't see the link at first.

I'm not an expert, and until now, didn't see you post.
Grey Owl will get you on the right track !
Myself, I'm quite willing to buy a commercially made paddle, they do such a great job building them, and at a reasonable cost !
Good luck !

Keep your paddle wet and your seat dry!
