Hey everyone,
I'm back looking for more answers. My outer stems are glued and shaped and everything looks really good, well except for a few minor areas. I have some small areas that need to be filled with fairing compound around where the stem meets the hull. My question is if I should be mixing sanding dust with the compound to colour match or if that will take away from the properties of the compound. The colour of the fairing compound isn't far off the colour of the canoe but will be noticeable. Any thoughts on this matter?
Thanks again.

I'm up to my torch.
Re: Fairing Compound.
It is safe to use fairing compound and some sanding dust to darken the mix. I would suggest aiming for at least a couple of shades darker than the are you are filling. A really light fill looks like fill whereas a darker patch seems to blend in better.
