DEADLINE EXTENDED: Canoecraft on the Water Video Contest

If you didn't have a chance to get an entry in during the first round or missed the announcements, here's another chance to submit to the Canoecraft on the Water Video Contest. We're extending the contest deadline to 12 PM EST December 31, 2017.

To recap, we're looking for short videos of up to five minutes that focus on what made you want to build your own craft, and what putting that hard work on the water means to you. Your boat being paddled in one of your favourite places should feature prominently.

Enthusiasm for the craft is the entry criteria, not professional-grade camera equipment. Shooting and editing on a smartphone is just fine if you've got a good story to share. Full contest rules can be found here: http://www.bearmountainboats.com/pages/onthewater

Since we know putting this together will take some extra care we've assembled a great list of prizes:
  • All entrants receive a Bear Mountain Boats t-shirt
Top 10 Honorable Mentions: One-year subscription to Canoeroots or Adventure Kayak Magazine (your choice)
3rd prize: model canoe kit (retail value: $125) and a signed copy of Good Clean Fun by Nick Offerman
2nd prize: Signed copies of all Ted’s books (Kayaks You Can Build, Kayakcraft, The Canoe, Canoecraft) plus a subscription to Canoeroots, a signed copy of Good Clean Fun by Nick Offerman, and a set of plans of your choice
1st prize: $500 gift certificate to Lee Valley and a set of plans of your choice
How to Submit

We accept entries via Submittable, an online submissions manager. Click here to submit: https://bearmountainboats.submittable.com

Again, if you need to review the rules, you can find them on our site: http://www.bearmountainboats.com/pages/onthewater

That’s it - thanks in advance to everyone who submits, and to everyone who's shared a video already. Looking forward to sharing your work in the new year!

I hope you get a good response to the contest, but I wonder if video editing is a tall order for people who love to build canoes and the associated activities ... I know the example video with drones and such is far from my available resources and pretty much scared me off of even trying to enter.
