Thank you to everyone who has contributed on this site. Sometimes the answers can only be found by screwing something up, and there are a couple of screw ups in my canoe, but it turned out much better than I expected.

Great job Mike !
A pat on the back is well deserved !
Anybody can START a canoe ! FINISHING one is a real accomplishment !!!
I always say building a canoe is a little like learning to pedal a bike ! Once you learn, you never forget !
Maybe another in your future ?

Never say never about building another one. If I did it would be a single person though.
Thanks!

The simple beauty of a solo canoe ? Is you can go paddling when YOU want to !
I find few better ways to relax than a float down a local river, by myself !
Especially in a canoe I built myself !

Nice job and congrats for making it through the gauntlet .... now you get to smile every time you look at the boat.
Building a solo is sensible, lets you go out with or without some one else .... and it feeds the addiction to building.

I noticed after looking through your pics Mike, that You didn't use cleats, on your strongback, between your planks. They support your strip after cutting, preventing picking them off the ground ! A simple aluminum angle clamped to the base of your saw, will ease pushing the saw !
My first saw had a wood base also !
Again ! Nice canoe !

Nice boat Mike.
When you run after your thoughts, you are like a dog chasing a stick: every time a stick is thrown, you run after it. Instead, be like a lion who, rather than chasing after the stick, turns to face the thrower. One only throws a stick at a lion once.

Thank you Jim for the suggestion on ripping the planks.
