I just finished a few new paddles. One (3rd from the left) was built on commission so I won't get the paddle it. All were built with WRC with a hollow shaft using 8 bird mouth joints. The grip on that 3rd paddle is rather large but has room for a small 5X telescope. Really handy when looking for a portage or at an eagle sitting on a nest. Total weight including monocular <21 oz.
The 2nd paddle has a layer of carbon fiber on the back side for a bit of extra stiffness.

Neat Idea with the mono glass. Does it need to be focused ?
I just saw, on the net , a cross section of the Birds mouth cut. Pretty Cool.

Jim, The monocular is a Zeiss 5X monocular and it can be focused. It is removable from the paddle grip to adjust if needed. I passed this new paddle to the new owner on Sunday (It was a birthday gift from his wife).
He loved it!
