Tack rags ?

Post by Lee in Sweden »

Hit ? Or miss ?

I bought a pack of 50 from the Uk online.
( actually I asked the wife to “google “ them whilst I was busy at work and she messaged me that she bought them... the delivery charge was the same as the rags.!
Anyway it’s still a good deal and they’re nice big ones.

But I read afterwards NOT to use them as it introduces unnecessary chemicals to the build ...
(I think it was in a pamphlet I got from the guy who did my strips) and he printed it out from Newfound.com.

SO ! Do you or don’t you ?

You can use them lightly when you varnish ... but they aren't recommended for any of the epoxy work.

So no tack rags on wood that is going to be epoxied (i.e. the hull) ... so if epoxy is going on the wood, not a good idea.

Once the epoxy is on the hull and sanded waiting for varnish, you can use a light tack rag for final cleaning, but I usually go with just a damp rag, it works well and helps kill any static that builds on the hull ...
