Rob Roy first strip

Post by reinbilt »

Has anyone built a Rob Roy lately? I'd be interested in knowing where you positioned the first strip. If I follow the waterline the strip finishes half way up the inner stem leaving alot of fill area to the sheer. If I clamp the strip to the three middle stations at the sheer ,and work out towards the ends, the natural fall of the strip pretty much follows the sheer leaving only a few strips of fill at the stem. I'm afraid this will make the canoe look like a banana when finished. It's easy to tell from the plans that the bow will need more fill pieces than the stern. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
