A question of sanity, just a bit of fun!

Post by Ed Houston »

 Questions to ask when thinking about building a canoe!

1. How stable is your marriage?
2. Do you intend to park your car in the workshop/garage for the next year/or two?
3. Is your workshop attached to the house?
4. Will your spouse accept the idea that dust all over the house is a natural phenomenon?
5. Do you enjoy being covered in dust and wood chips from dawn till dusk?
6. Do you have a; table saw, router, endless supply of sand paper?
7. Were you dropped on your head as a child?
8. Do you have an endless supply of bandages and hydrogen peroxide?
9. Have you ever wanted your hands dry out to the point no OTC hand cream will ever restore that soft sensuous feeling again?
10. Do you enjoy spending hours upon hours alone dressed in a respirator and old clothes?
11. Are you ever confused about your place in the world?
12. Ever wanted to attract the attention of neighbors who think you’re absolutely mad?

If you answered yes to Qs 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12.

And no to Qs 2 & 3.

And Very stable to the power of 10,000,000,000,000 to Q1

Build a canoe you’re a candidate!

1. How stable is your marriage?
I"m not married. :-)
2. Do you intend to park your car in the workshop/garage for the next year/or two?
My garage hasn't had a car inside it in at least 5 years. It's either me using it or my father.
3. Is your workshop attached to the house?
It's connected by an open air porch. Enough to let me stay out of the rain, but still keep dust out.
4. Will your spouse accept the idea that dust all over the house is a natural phenomenon?
See answer 1.
5. Do you enjoy being covered in dust and wood chips from dawn till dusk?
Yes. I know it isn't right, but I do.
6. Do you have a; table saw, router, endless supply of sand paper?
Yes, yes, and can you say "Home Depot"
7. Were you dropped on your head as a child?
I actually was. My father's knee went out, and he went down, but luckily, i landed on his stomache.
8. Do you have an endless supply of bandages and hydrogen peroxide?
Bandages? Real men don't need bandages. If it doesn't need stitches it'll heal on its own.
9. Have you ever wanted your hands dry out to the point no OTC hand cream will ever restore that soft sensuous feeling again?
Living in Rochester in the winter makes me dream of having skin that moist.
10. Do you enjoy spending hours upon hours alone dressed in a respirator and old clothes?
Are you implying that some people don't? It's like meditation with the god of epoxy.
11. Are you ever confused about your place in the world?
Only when not around a boat. (Any boat, sailboats being ideal)
12. Ever wanted to attract the attention of neighbors who think you’re absolutely mad?
On warm days you can go outside and have anyone driving by think you're mad.

Wow, I really need to get back to building. This hiatus is taking its toll.
