Anyone know the names of sources for long lengths of ash, rough cut, in the New England area? After reading the last comments, and looking around the Web, I've decided to avoid oak for the stems due to the epoxy issues. So might as well get some ash for both the stems and the gunwales. Also plan to use walnut for the decks, thwart, and seats.

Hi Sossman,
I can't remember name of the company or exactly where on the East Coast the place was, but give Kent a shout, his username is KARKAUAI. He is the one that told me where to get 20' long ash. I didn't want to pay the shipping from the East Coast clear out here to Northern California just for a couple of boards. That is why I'm opting for the scarf joint. I had the info that Kent gave me in my save box for private messages, but I had to empty it the other day. It was getting too full. He'll be along here shortly, he'll know.

Thanks. I also rediscovered a good supplier I visited about 10 yrs ago, Downes & Reader in Stoughton, MA. They are a wholesaler but will let you pick thru their bins.
