nice. I always cut the shearline before removing from the forms. I hope you've marked the shearline....
Great progress!

started sanding the inside of the hull
Re: 19' 9" Chaa Creek Expedition
You are moving right along, looks good.
Hard to tell, is the outside sanded at this point?

Spanish cedar sure is nice. This is the inside of the hull.
Re: 19' 9" Chaa Creek Expedition
That is a beautiful wood for sure.

Nice !
I've been Chastised for putting more than one coat on the inside, but to me the inside should look as good as the outside !
The extra coats, make it easier to varnish and clean.

I used two coats of epoxy on the inside. I am thinking about only a light hand sanding because I want to leave the inside slightly bumpy so it's not as slippery.

I am thinking about laminating gunnels using 3/4 x 1/4 maple strips with walnut spacers for scuppers. I kind of like the look of scuppers and I have a bunch of small walnut pieces.
Re: 19' 9" Chaa Creek Expedition
I just use 2 coats, with a light sanding for the interior as well, for the same reason. I also use a final coat of flat varnish to knock down the shine.

What varnish do people recommend for the outer hull and for the inner hull?

Re: 19' 9" Chaa Creek Expedition
I was thinking about possibly flaring the outer gunnels a bit in the bow and stern areas to deflect waves. We have had close encounters with some big waves from speed boats and big, fast moving container ships that can roll cold seawater into the lap of the person paddling in the front.

as for varnish, I use Epifanes Clear Gloss varnish inside and out. I often add a coat of Epifanes matte finish on the inside to reduce glare.
