True North or Not to True North?
True North or Not to True North?
I have set my sights on building a True North strip kayak and was wondering if anyone had actually built and paddled one. I am 240 lbs, 6' 2" and carry a fair amount of gear (50 lbs of camera gear, and about 40 - 60 lbs of camping gear). I don't plan on riding a waterfall into a set of rapids, just plan on doing coastal exploring, in British Columbia. Any experience info would be greatly appreciated.

I say go for it. Your weight plus the 50 pounds of kayak plus your gear puts you well within the optimal displacement of 300 to 460 pounds. I'm pretty much in the same situation as you and have decided on the Truenorth. Anytime I'm not loaded down with gear I will just add a couple of water bladders to maintain stability.
