A few weeks ago I was in Mackinaw City and I picked up a few landing net replacements cheap. Now I get to design and build some laminated wood nets for this spring's fishing trips.
I have a good of red oak, cedar and white pine to work with
Has anyone here ever made one?
Any tips on wood species, design, or bending techniques?

Re: Wooden Landing net?
I made a few using ash and walnut laminations bent around a form and I used walnut for the handle.

I would stay away from red oak, it doesn't steam, bend or glue up well. Has a tendency to crack. I would think cedar would work just fine.

Thats a nice net, Glen.
I got out in the shop and experimented with a few strips today. The oak and cedar both bent quite nicely.

I'd like to build a long handle wooden landing net. Does anyone know where you can get the netting? Canadian tire perhaps???

Any place that has a decent selection of fishing tackle should have them.
