Attaching the outer stems.

Post by WMegl »

I am about to glue the outer stems onto the inner stems and planking. I have seen pictures on the forum of straps holding the stem on while the epoxy sets. I can't tell from the pictures if screws were used as stated in Ted's book. Does anyone have experience with not using screws as Ted suggests? I would prefer not using them for aesthetic purposes only.

Thanks.

I have never used screws. If you have a good clamping system and a good fit between the parts, you won't need any screws.

I don't use screws either, here is a shot of how I did mine. All setups are different, but you definitely don't need screws .... but whatever you decide, do a dry run first to make sure it all works like you intend. You don't want epoxy everywhere and then find out you have a problem
